Importance of certificate :
The certificate was developed by the Department of Health and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and can be found at https://vaccine.certificate.health.gov.za.
National Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) project manager, Milani Wolmarans, said the certificate could be downloaded through a web portal by anyone who has received the COVID-19 vaccine in South Africa.
However, everyone in the country needs a certificate of COVID 19 vaccination to record good health, and it is proof of having a healthy body. Our role is to make this tool available to the nation to provide people with the proof of vaccination to have access to many of the amenities and activities that some have been missing.
What do you need to register?
- Access to the internet on any device (cellphone, laptop, tablet, desktop etc.)
- Your ID number or Passport (non-RSA), general contact information (your cellphone number will be used as the primary mode of communication).
- Information about your employment (primary employer and location of work)
- Where relevant, your professional registration details and medical aid are also requested.

The Vaccination Certificate system is only accessible to the individuals who have received the COVID 19 Vaccine.

The design of the Vaccination Certificate will be enhanced to ensure that it remains up to date with local and international standards.
You will therefore have to download your updated vaccination certificate for it to remain valid.
The Department of Health will advise on the availability of newer versions of the COVID-19 Vaccination certificate as it becomes available.
It is then the responsibility of a user to keep their COVID-19 vaccination certificate current by following the communication released by the NDoH.
Registration system links
Corona Check retrieves vaccination data from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) registration systems and the municipal health services (GGDs). If people permitted their data to be passed on to RIVM, the organization that vaccinated, they would have done so. However, people can also get proof of vaccination even if they do not give permission. If they were vaccinated recently, they might not yet be able to retrieve their data via CoronaCheck. It can take up to 3 days before their data is processed.
